1:4 Christianity's Immoral Teachings
The Bible is not the "Good Book" we commonly view it as...
The few pleasant sounding tales are massively overshadowed by disturbingly immoral teachings and claims.
God Is Not Love
Love is defined as an intense feeling of deep affection, a definition that does not apply to God in most of the Bible. God is described as a manipulative and controlling god, one who is fueled by jealousy, anger, and violence. A god that is unforgiving, seeks revenge through bloody massacres, and supports slavery, rape, sexism, child abuse, murder, and discrimination.
What Is Love?
Even according to the Bible God does not fit the definition of love given by 1 Corinthians 13, as God clearly "keeps a record of wrongs" or else there would have been no flood and no punishment. Calling God “love” does not make god love just as calling a car a tree does not make a car a tree.
The Real Reason for the Plagues
Many mistakenly accuse the Pharaoh of being the evil villain in the 10 plagues story. After all, all he had to do to end the suffering of his people was to simply let the Hebrews go. If you actually read the story, God "hardened his heart" (Exodus 4:21 & 9:12) so the Pharaoh could not free the slaves even if he wanted to. Why would God torture the innocent citizens of Egypt with a series of plagues that would only stop when the Pharaoh frees the slaves but also make it so the Pharaoh could not free the slaves? The answer to this comes in Exodus 10:1, God caused all this suffering and wanted it to continue simply so he could show off his powers. It is God, not the Pharaoh, who is the incredibly evil villain in this story.
Send Snakes To Kill The Hungry
In Numbers 21 when the Israelites complained about starving while being led to walk across the desert they asked God for food. Instead of instantly generating food for his starving people God instead decided to supernaturally generate venomous snakes to attack and kill them for complaining about starvation.
Numbers 21:6 "And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died."
God Possessed Samson
In Judges 14 during a feast Samson said to thirty Philistines, "Let me give you a riddle. If you can give me the answer during the seven days of the feast, I will give you thirty fine robes." The Philistines were able to provide the answer on time so Samson gave them fine robes as promised, but where did he get the robes? That is where God steps in. Instead of having some robes made or even purchased God possessed Samson taking control of his body. He then forced Samson to kill thirty men in the city of Ashkelon, strip them of their robes, and hand over those robes to the thirty Philistines as their prize.
The God Of Genocide
If you count all of the people killed by God in the Bible where a specific body count is given you get over 2,270,365 victims. In comparison, Satan himself only kills a total 10 people. This total body count only includes cases where a specific number was given and is only a tiny fraction of how many people were actually killed at the hands of God in the Bible. This total does not include all the people that God drowned in the flood, burnt to death in Sodom & Gomorrah, nor every ordered killing of Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites. This behavior is neither loving nor forgiving.

There are only ten people in the Bible that were killed by Satan, the seven sons and three daughters of Job (Job 1:1-9). One should remember that God allowed Satan to kill Job's children as part of a bet.
Sexism
Women's placement and inferiority to men is made quite clear in the Bible. The second account of creation (Gen 2:20-22) claims woman was only created as a companion for man and only because Adam could not find a suitable partner in the other animals. Throughout the Bible women are constantly reminded that they are inferior to and came from man. In Gen 3:16 part of women's punishment is that her "desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee." Adam was only punished for listening to his wife (Gen 3:17).
Woman is to worship man like a god
1 Corinthians 11:3 says that God is the head Christ, Christ is the head of man, and man is the head of woman. 1 Corinthians 11: 7 says that man is the image and glory of God, but woman is the glory of man. Ephesians 5:22-24 says that the husband is the head of the wife just as Christ is the head of the church. 1 Peter 3:6 even says that women are to call their husbands their lord just as Sarah called Abraham her lord.
Women are weaker than man
1 Peter 3:1-7 states that wives are "the weaker partner."
Women must be submissive to men
The Bible claims again and again that women must be submissive and submit themselves to their husbands. 1 Peter 3:1, 1 Peter 3:5, Colossians 3:18, 1 Timothy 2:11-12, Ephesians 5:22-24
Women are to be quiet & silent
1 Peter 3:4 says that women should be quiet. 1 Timothy 2:11-12 and 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 says that women are not permitted to speak at all inside a church and must remain silent.
Women Are Property of Man
Women are not only below men but they are the property of men. This is why they are listed alongside other property in Exodus 20:17, Numbers 31:32-35, and Deuteronomy 21:10-14. This is also why they can be bought as in Exodus 22:16-17, sold as in Exodus 21:7-11 & 22:16-17 and why they are ordered to be raped and given away for sakes of punishing their owner, man, as previously mentioned.
In Case You Forgot, Man Came First!
To keep women in their place the Bible finds it necessary to remind us that it was woman who came from man, and not the other way around. 1 Timothy even wishes to make it clear that woman was the one deceived and caused sin.
1 Timothy 2:13-14 "For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner."
1 Corinthians 11:8-9 "For man did not come from woman, but woman from man; neither was man created for woman, but woman for man."
Girls Are Less Pure
If a woman gives birth to a boy she is unclean for 7 days and must purify for 33 days.
If a woman gives birth to a girl she is unclean for 14 days and must purify for 66 days.
Leviticus 12:2-5 "Say to the Israelites: A woman who becomes pregnant and gives birth to a son will be ceremonially unclean for seven days, just as she is unclean during her monthly period. On the eighth day the boy is to be circumcised. Then the woman must wait thirty-three days to be purified from her bleeding. She must not touch anything sacred or go to the sanctuary until the days of her purification are over. If she gives birth to a daughter, for two weeks the woman will be unclean, as during her period. Then she must wait sixty-six days to be purified from her bleeding."
Apologists also claim that the Bible is not being sexist, it is simply stating the importance of roles in a partnership. Having roles is not sexist. Claiming that people must play the role of the submissive, silent, and weaker partner strictly because of their sex as the Bible does IS sexist.
Slavery
The Bible never condemns slavery in ether the Old or New Testaments. It does however show its full support for slavery by giving specific rules on the proper way of beating and owning a slave along with the proper way for a slave to behave. There are even points in the Bible where it orders the capturing and enslavement of new slaves.
Not only does the Bible condone the current act of slavery but God also commands the capturing of new slaves. The only rule that the god of Israel has against slavery is that they cannot be other Israelites.
Deuteronomy 20:10-11 "When you march up to attack a city, make its people an offer of peace. If they accept and open their gates, all the people in it shall be subject to forced labor and shall work for you."
Leviticus 25:44-46 "Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property. You can bequeath them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly"
Beat Your Slaves
The Bible also tells us to punish our slaves and whip them (so long as they don't die from the whippings and are able to work again in a day or two).
Exodus 21:20-21 "Anyone who beats their male or female slave with a rod must be punished if the slave dies as a direct result, but they are not to be punished if the slave recovers after a day or two, since the slave is their property."
Luke 12:47 "The servant who knows the master’s will and does not get ready or does not do what the master wants will be beaten with many blows."
Rules For Slaves
The support of slavery in the Bible doesn't end with the Exodus 21:7-11 rules for selling your daughter or the various other rules of slavery in Exodus 21 but it also shows support of slavery by telling slaves how to behave. They must be obedient and fear their masters.
Colossians 3:22 "Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to curry their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord."
Titus 2:9 "Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them."
1 Peter 2:18-21 "Slaves, in reverent fear of God submit yourselves to your masters, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh. For it is commendable if someone bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because they are conscious of God. But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God. To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps."
Ephesians 6:5-6 "Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart."
Rape
God and the Bible treat women as property of men and occasionally punishes men by having their wives taken away and raped just as a man today may have his car repossessed and auctioned off. In 2 Samuel 12:11-14 God punishes David by giving his wives to his neighbor to be raped in broad daylight. Zechariah 14:1-2 claims there will come a day when God will have all the women of Jerusalem raped. And Isaiah 13:15-18 shares a prophecy telling us that God is going to make the Babylonian men suffer by having their wives raped.
NOTE: The book of Leviticus has a whole list of sex related rules yet nowhere on that list will you find anything against the act of rape. In fact you won't find anywhere in the Bible that shows God disapproving of rape, only passages that show his support.
Rules For Raping Virgins
If a woman in town who is a virgin and pledged to be married does not scream when she is raped she has committed a sin and must be stoned to death. The man is also to be stoned to death, but not because he raped someone, because he violated the property of another man. If the raped virgin woman was not pledged to marry another man then the rapist is not sentenced to death. Instead he must buy her from her father for 50 shekels of sliver and she must be married to the rapist.
Deuteronomy 22:23-29"If a man happens to meet in a town a virgin pledged to be married and he sleeps with her, you shall take both of them to the gate of that town and stone them to death-the young woman because she was in a town and did not scream for help, and the man because he violated another man’s wife. You must purge the evil from among you.
But if out in the country a man happens to meet a young woman pledged to be married and rapes her, only the man who has done this shall die. Do nothing to the woman; she has committed no sin deserving death. This case is like that of someone who attacks and murders a neighbor, for the man found the young woman out in the country, and though the betrothed woman screamed, there was no one to rescue her.
If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay her father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives."
Murder
Murder seems to be the punishment the Bible sees fit for pretty much anything that the Christian god finds inappropriate. The Bible also teaches that murdering these people will not make us murderers as the "blood will be on their own heads" and in some cases even tells us how to murder, such as stoning. We are told to kill anyone who does not do what God demands of us. We are also told to kill anyone who we even think is worshipping a god other than the god of Abraham and kill everyone who lives in the same town as that person.
Murder For Christianity
Kill Blasphemers
Leviticus 24:13-16 "Then the LORD said to Moses: Take the blasphemer outside the camp. All those who heard him are to lay their hands on his head, and the entire assembly is to stone him. Say to the Israelites: 'If anyone curses his God, he will be held responsible; anyone who blasphemes the name of the LORD must be put to death. The entire assembly must stone him. Whether an alien or native-born, when he blasphemes the Name, he must be put to death."
Deuteronomy 17:12 "And the man that will do presumptuously, and will not hearken unto the priest that standeth to minister there before the LORD thy God, or unto the judge, even that man shall die: and thou shalt put away the evil from Israel."
Kill anyone who
works on a Sunday
Exodus 31:15 "Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death."
Exodus 35:1-2 "And Moses gathered all the congregation of the children of Israel together, and said unto them, These are the words which the LORD hath commanded, that ye should do them. Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to the LORD: whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death."
Numbers contains a story of this law in action when a man was working by picking up sticks on a Sunday. The man was killed as God commanded.
Numbers 15:32-36 "..and stoned him with stones, and he died; as the LORD commanded Moses."
Murder those of a religion other than yours
The Bible also teaches us the immoral act of killing people just because they are of another religious belief. Why is the Bible so afraid of outside ideas?
Anyone who blasphemes the God of Abraham must be stoned to death.1 Kings 21:10 "And set two men, sons of Belial, before him, to bear witness against him, saying, Thou didst blaspheme God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he may die."
Kill anyone who makes sacrifices to any god other than the God of Abraham.
Exodus 22:20 "He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed."
If a person tries to convert you away from the God of Abraham then you must stone that person to death.
Deuteronomy 13:10 "And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die; because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage."
If you think a person in another city has said to worship other gods you must investigate diligently. If it is true then you must kill every person and animal in the city then burn it down.
Deuteronomy 13:12-16 "If thou shalt hear say in one of thy cities, which the LORD thy God hath given thee to dwell there, saying, Certain men, the children of Belial, are gone out from among you, and have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which ye have not known; Then shalt thou enquire, and make search, and ask diligently; and, behold, if it be truth, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought among you; Thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein, and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword. And thou shalt gather all the spoil of it into the midst of the street thereof, and shalt burn with fire the city, and all the spoil thereof every whit, for the LORD thy God: and it shall be an heap for ever; it shall not be built again."
Kill everyone in distant cities for they are of other gods and may cause you to sin against your god.
Deuteronomy 20:15-18 "Thus shalt thou do unto all the cities which are very far off from thee, which are not of the cities of these nations. But of the cities of these people, which the LORD thy God doth give thee for an inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth: But thou shalt utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee: That they teach you not to do after all their abominations, which they have done unto their gods; so should ye sin against the LORD your God."
Stone to death anyone amongst you in your city that has worshiped a god other than the God of Abraham.
Deuteronomy 17:2-7 "If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man or woman, that hath wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD thy God, in transgressing his covenant, And hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded; And it be told thee, and thou hast heard of it, and enquired diligently, and, behold, it be true, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought in Israel: Then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman, which have committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, even that man or that woman, and shalt stone them with stones, till they die. At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death. The hands of the witnesses shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterward the hands of all the people. So thou shalt put the evil away from among you."
Even more orders to kill
Kill adulterers
Leviticus 20:10 "If a man commits adultery with another man's wife - with the wife of his neighbor - both the adulterer and the adulteress must be put to death."
Leviticus 20:11 "If a man sleeps with his father's wife, he has dishonored his father. Both the man and the woman must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."
Kill homosexuals
Leviticus 20:13 "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them."
Kill those of Bestiality
Leviticus 20:15-16 "If a man has sexual relations with an animal, he must be put to death, and you must kill the animal. If a woman approaches an animal to have sexual relations with it, kill both the woman and the animal. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."
Kill psychics
Leviticus 20:27 "A man or woman who is a medium or spiritist among you must be put to death. You are to stone them; their blood will be on their own heads."
Burn prostitutes if they are the daughters of a priest
Leviticus 24:13-16 "Then the LORD said to Moses: Take the blasphemer outside the camp. All those who heard him are to lay their hands on his head, and the entire assembly is to stone him. Say to the Israelites: 'If anyone curses his God, he will be held responsible; anyone who blasphemes the name of the LORD must be put to death. The entire assembly must stone him. Whether an alien or native-born, when he blasphemes the Name, he must be put to death."
Kill prophets or dreamers
Deuteronomy 13:5 "That prophet or dreamer must be put to death, because he preached rebellion against the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt and redeemed you from the land of slavery; he has tried to turn you from the way the LORD your God commanded you to follow. You must purge the evil from among you."
Kill anyone who attacks his parents
Exodus 21:15 "Anyone who attacks his father or his mother must be put to death."
Kill kidnappers
Exodus 21:16 "Anyone who kidnaps another and either sells him or still has him when he is caught must be put to death."
Kill anyone who curses at his parents
Exodus 21:17 "Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death."
Child Abuse
The Bible is full of support for child abuse. In Proverbs we are told to beat our children with a rod. The books of Leviticus and Deuteronomy tell parents to kill their children if they curse or disobey them. The Bible even has God claiming that he will have the flesh of children eaten if their parents disobey his word. Children are murdered left and right at the command of God throughout the Bible while making no exceptions for infants or the unborn children still inside their mothers' wombs.
Beat your children
Proverbs 23:13 "Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you punish them with the rod, they will not die."
Proverbs 22:15 "Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline will drive it far away."
God make you eat the flesh of your children
If you do not obey God he will make you eat the flesh of your children. This unimaginably cruel punishment will be bestowed on to your children because you, not them, disobeyed God.
Leviticus 26:27-29 "If in spite of this you still do not listen to me [God] but continue to be hostile toward me, then in my anger I will be hostile toward you, and I myself will punish you for your sins seven times over. You will eat the flesh of your sons and the flesh of your daughters."
Jeremiah 19:9 "I [God] will make them eat the flesh of their sons and daughters, and they will eat one another’s flesh because their enemies will press the siege so hard against them to destroy them."
Deuteronomy 28:49-53 "The LORD will bring a nation against you from far away, from the ends of the earth, like an eagle swooping down, a nation whose language you will not understand, a fierce-looking nation without respect for the old or pity for the young. They will devour the young of your livestock and the crops of your land until you are destroyed. They will leave you no grain, new wine or olive oil, nor any calves of your herds or lambs of your flocks until you are ruined. They will lay siege to all the cities throughout your land until the high fortified walls in which you trust fall down. They will besiege all the cities throughout the land the LORD your God is giving you. Because of the suffering that your enemy will inflict on you during the siege, you will eat the fruit of the womb, the flesh of the sons and daughters the LORD your God has given you."
Kill your children
if they curse or disobey you.
Leviticus 20:9 "Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death. Because they have cursed their father or mother, their blood will be on their own head."
Deuteronomy 21:18-21 "If someone has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father and mother and will not listen to them when they discipline him, his father and mother shall take hold of him and bring him to the elders at the gate of his town. They shall say to the elders, “This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard.” Then all the men of his town are to stone him to death. You must purge the evil from among you. All Israel will hear of it and be afraid."
The slaying of infants at Amalek
1 Samuel 15:3 "Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys."
Children and the unborn will
be dashed to pieces at Babylon
Isaiah 13:16-19 "Their infants will be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses will be looted and their wives violated.
