Jesus, What's the Big Deal?
The Jesus
You Don't Know...

Crazy Jesus & the Fig Tree
In Matthew 21:18-19 when a fig tree doesn't have a fig for him to eat Jesus condemns the tree to death. This story is not a parable. Jesus says to the fig tree, "May you never bear fruit again!" and immediately the tree withered. Just because a tree did not bear fruit when Jesus was hungry he made sure the tree could not bear fruit for anyone else who may be hungry. So much for turning the other cheek.

Anger, Not Compassion
In the oldest copies of scripture, like the Codex Sinaiticus, Jesus was said to be "angry" as he healed a leper. It was not until later versions of scriptures that the story was changed to say Jesus was healing with "compassion" to make Jesus look, well, more compassionate.

Forged Forgiveness
Also not found in earlier copies of scriptures are the words of forgiveness from the cross. Jesus does not say "Father forgive them for they know not what they do" in the earliest versions of the story.

Self Mutilation
In Matthew 5:29-30 Jesus says you must gouge out or cut off any body part that may have caused you to sin before you can enter Heaven.

Burn the World
In Luke 12:49 Jesus says he has come to set the world on fire.

Division, Not Peace
In Luke 12:51-53 & Matthew 10:34-35 Jesus says he has not come to bring peace on earth but rather division. He has come to divide father and son along with mother and daughter against each other.

Slavery
In Luke 12:47 Jesus not only supports slavery but tells masters to beat their disobedient slaves. In 1 Peter 2:18 he tells slaves to obey and fear their masters.

Love Only Me
In Matthew 10:37 Jesus says that you are not worthy of him or Heaven if you love anyone, including your own parents or children, more than you love him.

Family Values
In Luke 14:26 Jesus says you cannot be one of his followers if you do not hate your father, mother, wife, children, siblings or even your own life.

Jesus the Liar
Jesus says that anyone who has faith in him will be able to do all the supernatural miracles that he has done and even greater ones (John 14:12) and heal the sick just by touching them (Mark 16:17-18). Despite all of the promises not one Christian today can perform supernatural acts like when Peter is said to have walked on water (Matthew 14:28-31).

Also, throughout the Bible Jesus says the end times and his "second coming" will happen very soon. But how soon is soon? In the book of Matthew (16:28, 23:36, 24:34) Jesus says these events will happen during the life time of the generation in front of him, over 2,000 years ago. He even says to those people that "some who are standing here will not taste death" before these events occur. Over 2,000 years have passed, the people of that generation are long gone, and the events Jesus said would happen 2,000 years ago still have yet to happen.
JESUS DIED FOR YOU!
Wrong, Jesus only PRETENDED to die. Any Christian will proudly shout that Jesus died for your sins but if you ask any Christian if Jesus is dead they will say no. In the Bible Jesus is the immortal son of Yahweh, some even think he is Yahweh, he has everlasting life and by his very description cannot die. He cannot and does not. As 1 Peter 3:18-19 states, Jesus was simply made alive in Spirit form instead of flesh & bodily form. During his 3 days of pretending to be dead Jesus was not even sitting around lifeless but he was rather quite productive. He spent the days down in Hades preaching to spirit inmates.
JESUS SACRIFICED HIMSELF!
Wrong, there was no sacrifice. First off, as previously pointed out, Jesus never died and continues to have everlasting life so he never sacrificed his own existence. Jesus also knew he was going to continue to live in paradise a couple days after he pretends to die. Humans who suffer when being crucified suffer both physical pain and in the fear of not knowing what happens to them after life. They don't have the comfort of knowing that something better is next to help them through the pain. Jesus on the other hand already knew there was a heaven and that he eventually would go back there. People who died in war fighting for their country's freedom without the comfort of a promised fortune after death have sacrificed far more than the "Son of God." A cop or firefighter sacrifices far more in a day's work than Jesus did in his entire life.

Jesus was also only on the cross for 3 to 6 hours. It takes a couple days for a person to die on the cross, Jesus only had a tiny sample of the suffering that all the other people who have been crucified have had. The only way his death could have been a sacrifice is if he was not the son of Yahweh (nor Yahweh himself) but rather just a regular person with the ability to sacrifice and loose his life.
GOD GAVE HIS ONLY SON!
Many Christians will preach John 3:16 to show how much Yahweh loves us but they never put any thought into what they are saying. The verse goes like this, "For God [Yahweh] so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Sounds great, but now lets take a second to think about it. Yahweh has the power to instantly begot as many sons as he desires so him "giving his only son" is really no big deal since it is simply the only son he felt like magically begotting. If you want to be technical and actually read the Bible, King David was Yahweh's FIRST begotten son (Psalms 2:7), Jesus was the second. Regardless, Jesus was made specifically for the purpose of being sacrificed. Yahweh intend on sacrificing him before he even begot him.
BELIEVE IN HIM FOR EVERLASTING LIFE!
As noted, the last part of John 3:16 says, "whosoever believeth in him [Jesus] should not perish, but have everlasting life." Everlasting life can be a big deal but what is the big deal about Jesus? Yahweh has the power to give us everlasting life anyway he wants. Having Jesus pretending to die is just one of an infinite amount of ways he could have done this. Besides, why the change of plans? In Genesis 3:22-23 the sole reason Yahweh kicked Adam & Eve out of the garden was specifically so we would NOT have eternal life. Not kicking man out of the Garden of Eden is yet another one of the infinite ways Yahweh could allow us everlasting life without the use of Jesus thus making Jesus worthless.
JESUS DID MIRACLES!
And the big deal is? Even Peter walked on water. Although Jesus performed many supernatural miracles they were done through the use of Yahweh's powers. And according to the Bible, on a few occasions such as John 14:12, anyone who believes in Jesus can also perform the miracles he did through the power of Yahweh. Not only that but it said anything that anyone who believes in Jesus asks for in prayer will come true, even supernatural miracles that are greater than those that Jesus did. Jesus was not the ultimate power behind any of his miracles and according to the Bible a lot of people are able to do the same flashy tricks and even better ones.
JESUS FULFILLED PROPHECIES
Yes, according to the stories of Jesus in the New Testament he did perform a large amount of the prophecies predicted in the Old Testament... and the big deal is? Everyone understands that the New Testament stories were written AFTER the Old Testament stories of which the NT writers have read before and were well aware of. It is not that hard to read a story that makes prophecies and then later write a newer story about a person fulfilling these prophecies you just read about.
JESUS SAVED OUR SOULS
The entire purpose of Jesus is to save our souls by cleaning them of sin. The entire purpose of a car wash is to wash cars by cleaning them of dirt. If there were no cars then a car wash would be meaningless. In the same manner, if there are no souls then a soul cleanser would be meaningless. As it turns out, there is no such thing as a soul. All attributes once believed to be related to the "soul" such as memory, emotions, personality, and even consciousness are 100% dependent on the physical structure and patterns of the brain and all of which can even be dramatically altered or erased through physical changes to the brain. Jesus, What's the Big Deal?
John 3:16 revised Although everything we know about history makes it quite clear that the figure Jesus Christ did not actually exist there are still some stories from scriptures that have led historians to say a regular human dubbed "Historical Jesus" inspired some of the legends in the Gospels. This is one example. The death and resurrection story sounds more like it was based on a regular human than a god figure.

Death from crucifixion takes several days but the gospels say the person was taken down from the cross after no longer than 6 hours. Mathew 27:46 says it was after six hours and Luke 23:44-46 says it was only three hours. In Mark 15:44 Pontius Pilate doubts that the man being crucified could already be dead so soon. The Roman soldiers had to break the legs of the other two men to speed up their deaths before the Sabbath day.

How did the person trick people into thinking he was dead? The likely scenario is suggested in John 19:29-30 when visitors put a sponge covered in vinegar up to his mouth and after drinking from the sponge he immediately "dies". The sponge he drank from could have very well contained a liquid to subdue him.

The person was clearly not clinically dead when taken to the sealed tomb since the herbs Joseph of Arimathea brought to the tomb were aloes. These are healing, not embalming herbs. Many people also confuse the term resurrection with life after death. The original greek scriptures speak of a resuscitation, not a resurrection. The person was simply resuscitated with the healing herbs and not resurrected from the dead as most Churches today preach.

How could a regular human ascend into heaven? The ascension is not part of the original story and does not actually appear in the earliest forms of any of the gospels. In the earliest version of the earliest gospel, Mark, there is no resurrection or ascension to Heaven. The gospel simply ends with the discovery of an empty tomb as the man likely spent the rest of his life hiding from the Romans. It was not until 200 years after the supposed events took place that the ascension was added to later copies of Mark. There is one line in Luke that reads "and was carried up into heaven" but again, this does not appear in the older copies of the scriptures and was inserted in later copies. Mathew and John remain to have no mention of the ascension into heaven. Could it be that the image many Christians have in their heads of Jesus Christ being crucified, resurrected, and ascending to Heaven is simply an exaggerated retelling of the collapsing and revival of a regular human?
