Miracles: Then & Now

The word miracle when used loosely simply means something of wonder but when taken more literally it is an effect or extraordinary event in the physical world that surpasses all known human or natural powers thus only explainable through supernatural means. People nowadays are always speaking of real life miracles but all of these events can only be loosely described as a miracle for they are easily be written off as mere coincidences or have a natural explanation. Regardless of their insignificance in comparison to alleged literal miracles they are still enough to convince people of divine intervention of that person is already desperately looking for a sign from above.

Why do we never see actual miracles in today's age or in real life like the one's he hear from stories? Is it too much to ask for a real miracle instead of a mere coincidence or something that may cause wonder but has an explanation which does not invoke the supernatural? In the Bible we are told about all sorts of miracles actually happening. Not just simple coincidences or a slide of hands but actual miracles. People who are literally brought back from the dead, a cut of ear magically being attached and fully functional, staffs turning into real life snakes and people walking on water. If the Bible is true and it's stories are factual then why do we never see such literal miracles in real life but rather only stories of them?
On several occasions the Bible says that anything is possible through the power of prayer and faith in Jesus Christ. To say that the word "anything" includes supernatural powers may be taking the word a little too literally but in Matthew 21:21-22 Jesus specifically tells us that anyone who believes in him and prays can cause fig trees to shrivel up and die or cause mountains to fly into the sea. John 14:12 even goes on to say that anyone who believes in Jesus can not only perform all the miracles that Jesus himself is said to have done but such believers will be able to perform even greater miracles. Since a large amount of the world population claim to believe in Jesus then something like walking on water or raising the dead should be common place and a piece of cake for the believers.

At last not such miracles have yet to occur in the real world. Do all these believers of Jesus truly poses such powers but none of them feel morally inclined to take a second heal those suffering of illnesses or to bring back a mother's child who was wrongfully murdered? Is every single person who says they believe in Jesus actually lying and that’s why they can't perform actual miracles like the Bible says they could? Maybe the Bible was lying when it talked about all of these supposed miracles and said that those who believed in Jesus could perform such miracles by praying. Or could it be that the ones who were not being fully truthful are those who claimed their words were the words of God or the men who personally decided which scriptures are to be excepted as divine and inserted into the book we call the Bible?
