Homosexuality = sin/unnatural

All major campaigns against marriage equality in the United States base their motives on the Bible.

They do not attack homosexuality because of what the Bible does or does not say about pushing one's personal beliefs on others or because of what the Bible does or does not say about how to treat homosexuals. The Bible tells us that homosexuality is unnatural and an abomination, but most importantly the Bible tells them that despite how happy it may currently make one the act of homosexuality will lead to an eternity of unimaginable pain & suffering in Hell.

They are convinced they're saving homosexuals from a tragic fate one is blind to. They are convinced they're helping to prevent others from also being at risk. If what the Bible said was actually true, wouldn't you as a moral person do the same? To prevent homosexuality and unimaginable suffering? This is why we must all STOP making it socially acceptable to believe the Bible is inerrant. So a good thing will not be mistaken for a bad thing and so those fighting to protect others and those fighting for equality can work together for a progressive future.

BEYOND MARRIAGE EQUALITY


	The harm of the Bible's negative stance on homosexuality goes far beyond the attack on marriage equality. Over the past 2,000 years the Bible's labeling of homosexuals as sinful has... led to hundreds of millions of homosexuals world wide to be rejected by their families and neighbors driven gay and bisexual teens to depression and suicide established discriminating anti-gay laws led to hate crimes resulting in violent abuse and death

Is Homosexuality A Choice?

NO, no one chooses their sexual preference. Not heterosexuals and not homosexuals. Because of scriptures demonizing homosexuality gay and bisexual teens have been driven to depression and suicide. The demonizing has also led hundreds of millions of homosexuals world wide to be rejected by their families and neighbors. If their sexual preference was a choice most of them would choose to be heterosexual and live a life not full of depression, suicide, and outcasting. Obviously it is not a choice. One's sexual orientation is actually determined biologically through genetics and epigenetics.

Not Unique To Us

Homosexual behavior can be found throughout nature and is not unique to just us homosapiens. Over 400 species of animals from around the world including dolphins, lions, zebras, buffalos, ducks, foxes, elephants, and horses are now known to engage in homosexuality.

What Determines Sexual Orientation?

In the first few weeks of development all fetuses are female, hence why we are all born with breast tissue and nipples. It is not until about week 6 that fetuses with the male Y chromosome form testis which produce the hormone testosterone. About the 8th week is when the testosterone is released which masculinizes the body including a part of the brain known as the Hypothalamus which partially controls who we are sexually attracted to. The more the Hypothalamus is exposed to testosterone the more one is attracted to women. Occasionally a male fetus only produces sufficient testosterone to masculinize the body but not the brain or its brain does not absorb enough to make it fully heterosexual.

The development process of a fetus is never 100% precise so homosexuality and bisexuality can result simply due to imprecise development. Our genes can also determine one's sexual orientation. When one identical twin is gay the other is gay up to 70% of the time showing that genetics can play a role in homosexuality. Epigenetics can determine one's sexual orientation too. Epigenetics causes changes in the underlying DNA sequence without making a change to the DNA its self. This is how twins with identical DNA can still be born with differences such as sexual orientation.

FOCUS on the FAMILY


	Focus on the Family is an American evangelical group founded in 1977 by James Dobson, and is based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It's objective is to push their Christian based "family values" into every household and the speak out to 220 million listeners daily on over 7,000 stations in 160 countries. Focus on the Family's "Love Won Out" ministry's mission sets to "cure homosexuals" and rid them of their "sinful" ways. James Dobson, chairman of the Colorado Springs-based Christian group Focus on the Family, speaking about same-sex marriage in Massachusetts, "We will look back 20, 30, 50 years from now and recall this as the day marriage ceased to have any real meaning in our country. The documents being issued all across Massachusetts may say 'marriage license' at the top but they are really death certificates for the institution of marriage as it has served society for thousands of years."

ACROSS the WORLD


	Only a miniscule fraction of the world legally allows same-sex marriages. The majority doesn’'t even allow same-sex unions at all. In various other portions of the world the very act of homosexuality is considered illegal and is punishable by a minimal to large penalty; life in prison, or even the death sentence. In the United States of America same-sex marriage is only allowed in one state, Massachusetts, and most of the country even has a constitutional ban on same-sex marriages or unions. NOTE: In most of the world homophobia is based on religious scriptures other than the Bible but as long as you still support taking any doctrine as inerrant you are supporting all problems that derive from doing such. Especially since they are all equally valid/invalid.

Homophobia in the Bible

The Bible tells its followers that homosexuality is unnatural and a sinful act. The Mosaic Law prescribes the death penalty for the sin. The apostle Paul even specified that homosexuals have excluded themselves from salvation and are headed toward condemnation.

New Testament
In Romans 1:18-32 the apostle Paul condemns homosexuality as "unclean," "impure," "dishonoring to the body," "vile," "degrading/disgraceful," "contrary to nature," "unseemly/obscene," "improper activity of a depraved mind," "unrighteous," and "wicked."

In 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 the apostle Paul speaks of homosexuals as effeminate (unnatural).

Old Testament
In Genesis 19 God destroyed the entire cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by raining down brimstone and fire because of their homosexual ways. An incident similar to that of Sodom and Gomorrah is seen again in Judges 19 where the act of homosexuality is also described as being wicked and sinful.

In Leviticus 18:22-24 homosexuality is described as an "abomination" and "defiling."

In Leviticus 20:13 it is again described as an "abomination" and also worthy of the death penalty!

Deuteronomy 23:17 forbids the presence of a sodomite (male homosexual) in the land of Israel.

In 1 Kings 14, 15, and 22 the removal of male prostitutes from the land of Israel is viewed as a sign of much-needed spiritual reformation.
